Living Legacies: Active Ageing in Staffordshire
Staffordshire County Council is thrilled to unveil “Living Legacies: Active Ageing in Staffordshire” – A Celebration of Our Senior Community’s Vibrant Stories told through a dynamic pop-up exhibition project that honours the invaluable contributions of our older residents.
This initiative seeks to challenge and reshape the prevailing stigmas associated with ageing.
The exhibition is aimed at all members of the public in Staffordshire, and it will visit various community venues, starting with libraries in all eight district during Autumn 2023, Dates coming here soon.
What is Living Legacies?
“Living Legacies” is an inspiring pop-up exhibition showcasing the contributions of Staffordshire’s older residents
It’s a celebration of becoming older and challenges assumptions about ageing.
This touring exhibition is created with local voluntary, community and health organisations.
Come and engage, celebrate and discover the untold stories of active ageing in Staffordshire.

What is the purpose?
This project aims to challenge preconceived notions and stigma associated with ageing and give people the chance to learn about how they can help themselves and others, using the various Supportive Communities resources.
This initiative resonates with global efforts to promote healthy ageing and challenges the misconceptions about growing older, particularly post-COVID.
Who is involved
Staffordshire County Council is working along with voluntary & community groups from each district of Staffordshire to provide local ‘stories’ which will be told in the exhibition and inside an accompanying exhibition brochure and this website.
- The project is being produced by Staffordshire County Council Supportive Communities team.
- We are working with Support Staffordshire, Staffordshire Libraries and Integrated Care Staffordshire to help gather stories.
- The project links with the emerging Healthy Ageing Action plan being developed in Staffordshire.
Beyond the Stories
This web page will be updated in the coming days and weeks with more information about Living Legacies and the exhibition, including all of the dates and locations.

Submit a Legacy Story
We’re on the lookout for stories of older Staffordshire residents who’s actions, outlook or experience contributes positively to our community.
No detailed personal information is needed. Just a first name, and district or borough the person is from.
So if you have a story to share, scroll please first ask the person if they are happy for their story to be told, and then complete the simple form below. The story will only be seen by County Council staff, and will not be shared further at this stage.
