Be Active and Move More

Being active does not have to take a lot of extra time and is great for the body and mind.  Adults should aim to be active every day. Some is good, more is better still…

The benefits of getting active

Being active and moving more can lift your mood, prevent disease, help maintain a healthy weight, and promote health and wellbeing.  There are many benefits of being active!

It’s important that you take care of your mind as well as your body and to get further support if you need it.

If you aren’t very mobile, you can do chair-based exercises. Even moving your arms and legs and wiggling your toes will get your circulation going.

Tips for moving more

As we get older it becomes even more important to remain active as this will help us to stay healthy and maintain independence.

NHS physical activity guidelines explain the type and amount of activity that older adults can be doing to improve their health and reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. Walking is a great way to be more active and it is free.
