Small actions can make a big difference.
Lending a hand
Lending a hand to a family or someone in your community goes a long way. It has the power to change people’s lives. If you can just help someone out when they need it, lend an hour to a community project or even take on more volunteering – fantastic. There are loads of opportunities that can fit around your life. Whatever you can do will make a difference to you, and your community.

Get into volunteering
Everyone has their own priorities and times in life can be hard. But volunteering can make a huge difference to people, and you too. It’s proven that volunteering regularly really adds to people’s mental wellbeing. It’s also a great way to have new experiences, meet new people and learn new skills.
If you want help finding volunteering opportunities, Support Staffordshire and Staffordshire’s Council of Voluntary Youth Service are two great organisations that can help you.
Find a volunteering opportunity
Anyone can volunteer, regardless of your age, abilities or job status. Wherever your skills lie, whatever your ambitions are, we can help you find that perfect opportunity and support you on your volunteering journey. Often the most difficult part of volunteering is making the first move. You can find a volunteering opportunity by using Support Staffordshire’s ‘Role Search’ function.

Driving someone to a medical appointment, offering to take out the bins, or even walking a neighbours dog can all make someone’s day!
Strike up conversation
Going out of your way to say ‘hello’ to someone or giving someone a big smile can make someone’s day. Strike up a conversation.
