Helping you get online
Getting you online so that you can help you
I love being online, but I know that computers aren’t easy for lots of people.
Getting online is a great way to get yourself connected to others and help with the day to day tasks and ups and downs – from using Staffordshire Connects and the Family Hub Facebook groups, to taking part in hobbies and doing things we enjoy. But we know that many people’s digital skills can be really different, but there’s many things in place for you to gain the confidence you need to get online.
This includes our ‘IT Buddies’ in libraries that can help you from learning general IT skills, such as using email and websites, to using social media to connect with family and friends, and even applying for Blue Badges. All our IT Buddies are volunteers – perhaps you’d like to volunteer as well? (We have more volunteer roles than IT Buddies available including Start-Up buddies, helping people to think about setting up their own business!).
Many of our libraries also run computer classes (often free) through the Staffordshire Community Learning service. Hundreds of people have already got online thanks to those, and then there’s the computers that you can use for free in libraries and travelling libraries.
There’s so much choice – that if you think now might be the time to try and improve some of those technical skills, there’s plenty out there. Why not give it a go?
